Jewish Realities after October 7

"Jewish Realities after October 7. Yearbook 2025", ed. Alexandra Klei and Annika Wienert, werkraum bild und sinn, Berlin 2025

Foreword by Alexandra Klei and Annika Wienert

"The Hamas massacre of October 7, 2023, the deadliest attack on Jews since the Holocaust, was immediately followed by a global rise in antisemitism. This is an ongoing threat to Jews around the world, regardless of their nationality, citizenship or religious beliefs. In academia, in the art world, in culture—be it highbrow, pop or subculture—as well as in public discourse, we are not only confronted time and again with calls to boycott Jewish artists, scholars, musicians, DJs, …; Jewish voices are also silenced, excluded, shunned, not heard.

That is why we decided to dedicate our fifth yearbook to Jewish voices and voices critical of antisemitism. We wanted to open a space for Jewish authors and artists. We have refrained from setting guidelines for the form and content of the contributions. Not all of the pieces in this book deal with present-day antisemitism, the events of October 7, or their aftermath."

I contributed to this publication by writing a text "Complaining for a Better Future" based on a case of discrimination in the Polish art world, which I contextualised within a historical and feminist framework.
