Slátúrhúsið Icelandic Art Center, Egilsstaðir

Fifth edition of the Annual Art Festival "VOR/WIOSNA" at the Slátúrhúsið Icelandic Art Center curated by Wiola Ujazdowska and Ragnhildur Ásvaldsdóttir.

VOR / WIOSNA Festival brings together contemporary art and migration stories from and about the Polish diaspora in Iceland and beyond. Held in the remote town of Egilsstaðir, in the east of Iceland, the festival is both a celebration of cultural hybridity and a response to the needs of the local Polish community, which in some towns makes up nearly one quarter of the population.

This year's main exhibition, titled "Migration is life", explores the multifaceted experience of displacement — economic, political, historical. Featured artists include Rafał Milach / A.P.P (Archive of Public Protest), Bart Urbański, and Andrii and Lia Dostliev.

Dr. Zofia nierodzińska will conduct a month-long artistic research residency in Egilsstaðir focusing on the Polish community in the region.
